Trauma-informed supervision is essential for creating a trauma-informed environment. The way that staff members interact with each other sets the tone for the overall emotional environment and in turn determines how staff interact with those they support. Supervision should model the characteristics of a healthy empowering relationship so that staff members can develop similar relationships with the people being served. In this training we will review the principles of trauma-informed supervision, discuss how to apply these principles, and practice trauma-informed supervision techniques.
At the end of this training participants will be able to:
1. Describe the five guiding principles of trauma informed supervision.
2. Describe at least two ways to integrate each into supervision.
3. Describe the differences between helpful and harmful supervisory approaches.
