A trauma-informed environment is one where everyone feels safe and welcomed. The way supervisors interact with those they supervise impacts the overall environment and the individuals they serve. Supervision should exemplify the qualities of a healthy, empowering relationship, allowing staff to grow, reflect, and build healthy connections. In this training, we will explore and discuss the principles of trauma-informed supervision and practice ways to apply them.
The target audience for this training includes anyone providing non-clinical supervision to substance use harm reduction, recovery, housing/homelessness, and treatment staff (non-clinicians), recovery coaches, recovery specialists, and other non-clinical professionals.
At the end of this training participants will be able to:
1. Describe three principles of trauma informed supervision
2. Describe ways to assess supervisor and supervisee trauma-informed skills
3. Demonstrate at least two trauma-informed supervisory skills
