Family Residential Treatment Intake & Pregnant Women’s Access

FRT Access staff coordinates the assessment and referral process for families in need of residential substance use disorder treatment. IHR staff is guided by the ASAM criteria in assessing and counseling in order to recommend an appropriate level of treatment. Families may be placed directly into any of eight DPH‐funded family residential treatment programs, or two sober living programs.

IHR maintains a statewide toll-free line for pregnant women affected by substance use disorders. Pregnant women are counseled intensively over the telephone and may be placed in DPH-funded programs with beds for pregnant and postpartum women. Staff convenes regular meetings for all DPH‐funded family residential treatment programs and representatives of the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services to disseminate data, share policies and procedures, and discuss program best practices.
