Screening and early identification

IHR takes part in a national initiative to detect and intervene with patients in healthcare settings who use and abuse substances and serves as Statewide Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Coordinator, providing training/consultation on FASD and substance-exposed newborns. IHR staff work in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to provide training and technical assistance to sites that use Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) protocol in their health services.
