Cross Systems Specialist

The Institute for Health and Recovery (IHR) is a statewide service, research, policy, program development and capacity building agency. IHR designs its services based on an understanding of the impact of trauma. IHR’s mission is to develop a comprehensive continuum of care for families, individuals, youth and pregnant and parenting women affected by alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, violence/trauma, mental health challenges and other health issues. IHR’s CARF accredited treatment programs provide holistic interventions for hard to reach and high-risk individuals and families.

Summary Statement

The Cross Systems Specialist for Family Recovery Project Central will support IHR’s mission to develop a comprehensive continuum of care for children, parents, families, youth, and pregnant and parenting women affected by alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, violence/trauma, mental health challenges and other health issues. The Cross Systems Specialist will be responsible for partnering with Family Recovery Council, expanding membership and increasing collaboration, and communicating regularly with the team of FRP partners from DCF, BSAS, and AHP.

Director of Family and Children’s Services

Essential Functions

  • Work with Central Region Family Recovery Council to expand membership and increase collaboration
  • Revise/develop communication and information sharing protocols among project collaborators
  • Collaborate with DPH/BSAS, DCF on systems development and on implementation of Plans of Safe Care
  • Work with Worcester’s Peer Recovery Center, Everyday Miracles (EDM) to better connect DCF and other family-serving agencies to this community resource
  • Coordinate training and consultation among IHR trainers with EDM and the Family Recovery Council
  • Communicate with IHR’s main office in Cambridge through use of shared online calendars, sign in – out board, time sheets, and check in/out with supervisor;
  • Attend team and agency staff meetings
  • Regular attendance and punctuality is required

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, public health, or related field preferred.
  • Understanding of substance use treatment and child welfare systems
  • At least 2 years’ experience in family focused substance use disorder treatment and/or child welfare settings
  • Individuals with first-hand experience in substance use disorders are encouraged to apply
  • Experience working with pregnant and parenting women and families affected by substance use disorders strongly preferred
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse cultural groups
  • Willing to have a flexible schedule to meet the needs of project
  • Willing and able to travel to designated locations

Other Requirements (if applicable)

  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and regular access to a reliable vehicle;
  • Business Class Rider on Motor Vehicle Insurance, if transporting clients (within one month of start of job)
