Director of Project Promise

The Institute for Health & Recovery (IHR) is a nationally-renowned, award-winning agency that specializes in innovative services, training and evaluation focused on addressing the unique needs of underserved families, women and youth. IHR’s CARF accredited treatment programs provide holistic interventions for hard to reach and high-risk individuals and families. Our mission is to develop a comprehensive continuum of care for individuals, youth, and families affected by alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, violence/trauma, mental health challenges, and other health issues.

Summary Statement

Project Promise is a new innovative substance use day treatment program for pregnant and parenting women with children up to one year of age. The Director of Project Promise has programmatic oversight and responsibility for administering the project, training and orienting staff in clinical practices and programmatic procedures, and working closely with the state Bureaus of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) to collect data and prepare reports to funding source. The Director works closely with SPARK and BMC staff on all family activities.

NOTE: This is full-time 40 hours position and is sited at BMC SPARK Center, Mattapan, Mass.

Essential Functions

  • Direct all referrals, programming, and clinical services provided through Project Promise, funded through the state BSAS and the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
  • Direct supervision of two (2) Family Recovery Specialist, one Peer Recovery Mom, and one Intake/Services Coordinator., providing clinical supervision and support, while ensuring accurate records and reporting
  • Close collaboration with SPARK’s Clinical Psychologist and children’s services staff, to ensure seamless program operations
  • Serve as contact with BSAS and Advocates for Human Potential (AHP) on project evaluation, including all participant data collection, and ongoing submission of data
  • Ensure the professional development of all Project Promise staff
  • As a member of agency leadership, promote compliance with all agency policies and procedures, as well as its mission and values.

  • Advanced degree in social work, mental health counseling or related field (Clinical License (LICSW, LMHC) preferred)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in substance use disorder treatment; experience with family centered and pregnant women’s treatment preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in program leadership, including supervision of clinical staff
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse cultural groups
  • Experience in community outreach and case management activities
  • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to effectively supervise staff with different learning styles

Other Requirements (if applicable)

  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and regular access to a reliable vehicle;
  • Business Class Rider on Motor Vehicle Insurance, if transporting clients (within one month of start of job)
